Why is the text on your Web site so small?

The Canadian Beacon Registry uses a style sheet that does not prescribe the exact text size. This means that you should be able to increase or decrease the font size to suit your needs. The default text size for Internet browsers is medium. If the font appears small, it means that your text/font setting is not at the browser default setting. To change the font size, read how to make the text size bigger.

Why does the Canadian Beacon Registry use proportional font sizing?

The Canadian Beacon Registry uses proportional font sizing to ensure that all Canadians will be able to access the information according to their needs. The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), which creates the Internet coding standards for the Internet, recommends the use of proportional font sizing as the best way of achieving universal accessibility. The W3C promotes proportional font sizing as a way to put text size control back in the hands of the Web site visitor.

If you have also changed the settings in your operating system and find that this does not magnify the text enough to be useful, then it could be worth investigating screen magnification software. Please visit http://w3c.org/WAI/References/Browsing.
